- Earliest records of a windmill on site was in 14C. Sailors used as landmark.
- 1799 saw the current smock mill built as a replacement to previous windmill and by mid 1800s there were a number of agricultural buildings supporting the windmill activities.
- 1870s former agricultural buildings were converted to workers cottages (Thatch Cottage and Mill Cottage).
- By 1900 the Mill and its activities had ceased and all agricultural buildings were in residential use. The Mill House was extended and adapted to suit its various owners.
- 1920s used as hospital for WW1 veterans.
- Late 1950s – early 1960s Windmill dismantled and reduced in height.
- Late 1950s -1990 buildings used as school/college with residential accommodation.
- 1990s onwards buildings and site revert to multiple residential dwellings.
